The Comprehensive Pediatric Diabetes Center has now moved its outpatient office!
The PHED Up! Lab and Dr. Risa Wolf, a pediatric endocrinologist at John Hopkins and former director of the Comprehensive Pediatric Diabetes Center at Salah Foundation Children's Hospital, are partnering with the American Diabetes Association to explore the characteristics of youth and families who access their large network of diabetes summer camps across the country. We are especially interested in understanding how camps might increase access and engagement of racial and ethnic minority youth with type 1 diabetes and their families. Congratulations to the 2016-17 class of NSU practicum students and South Florida Consortium predoctoral interns who were the inaugural class of trainees to complete a rotation within the Comprehensive Pediatric Diabetes Center. Trainees worked closely with an integrated team of pediatric endocrinologists, nurse practitioners, and dietitians in this outpatient specialty clinic setting. They provided mental health and health behavior screenings, outpatient therapy and new onset diabetes consults to patients with diabetes ranging from preschoolers to emerging adults. They were an integral part of building our psychology service as part of the center. Good luck in all your future efforts!
